This beautiful hand painted canvas was inspired by the Pennsylvania Dutch tradition of Hex signs used for luck or protection. Shown here finished, it was designed for the protection of the United States of America following the events of 9-11. The various elements of the design each have a meaning:Red – Courage
White – Purity
Blue – Wisdom
Silver – Fidelity
5 pointed star – Good luck
Second star –
Circle - Eternity

This is a fabulous looking pillow!
Thanks. This is one of my favorites and as it turns out it's the first piece of mine I ever stitched. Actually I need to do another one. I had this one framed but didn't like an outter blue circle I'd painted so out it came and into the pillow it went. Now I have magnificent custom framing complete with double suede matt and nothing in it. I guess I know why my summer project is going to be. :-)
This is one of the best "patrotic" pieces I've seen and it's finished very nicely.
Hi Happy and thanks for the feedback. I love the finishing on this piece too. When I sent it out to the finisher I told her to go to town. She has great taste and I've always been happy with what she's done for me and this was no exception.
